Keep meaning to mention the wind turbines that we saw at Great Yarmouth. There are about 27 of them, if I remember rightly, set in the ocean about a mile or more away from the shore. They make a wonderful effect on the skyline, slowing revolving each at their own speed, and blending into the sky in a way that’s not at all unlovely.
I can imagine the furore that would have erupted if my home town of Dunedin had debated having a wind farm offshore like this. It’s been bad enough trying to get agreement over a wind farm in the middle of nowhere.
I've just had a look at this wind farm on the Net. Turns out that it's not quite in the ocean, as it appears, but is on Scroby Sands, a sandbank.
